  10. 1. About Plugin Chooser
  11.  
  12. Plugin Chooser is a software to choose plugins for Netscape
  13. Navigator.
  14.  
  15. Netscape Navigator has a capability of adding plugin modules.
  16. If you add plugins, Netscape Navigator becomes to be able to
  17. handle information which Netscape Navigator does not support
  18. by its own.
  19. But plugin capability has some inconveniences like:
  20.  
  21.    - you can't switch multiple plugins for same type of
  22.      information.
  23.    - you can't use helper applications if you add a plugin
  24.      for the same type of information.
  25.  
  26. Especially, Netscape Navigator 3.0 has some plugins in it,
  27. so you may have some troubles when you try to add other plugins
  28. or helper applications.

  30. Plugin Chooser solves these problems:
  31.  
  32.    - you can choose one of the plugins which you want to use
  33.      for a type of information.
  34.    - you can make plugins inactive and use a helper application.

  52. 4. Distribution Package

  54. The distribution package contains following files:

  56.   NpChooser.exe    Plugin Chooser executable file
  57.   readme-e.txt     This document
  58.   readme-j.txt     Japanese version of readme-e.txt

  61. 5. Usage
  62.  
  63. 5.1 make only one plugin active
  64.  
  65.  (1) Make sure Netscape Navigator is not running.
  66.      If Netscape Navigator is running, you must close it.
  67.  (2) Execute NpChooser.
  68.      NpChooser searches for plugins for Netscape Navigator,
  69.      and shows MIME-Types which they support in "Content Types" box.
  70.  (3) Choose one MIME-Type among "Content Types" box.
  71.      For example, select "audio/midi" for MIDI, "x-world/x-vrml" for
  72.      VRML.
  73.      And then, plugins which supports the MIME-Type you select
  74.      are displayed in "Active Plugins" box.
  75.  (4) If multiple plugins are listed in "Active Plugins" box,
  76.      they are conflicted.
  77.      Choose a plugin which you don't intend to use, and click
  78.      down arrow button. And then it moves to "Inactive Plugins" box.
  79.      Repeat this sequence until there is only one plugin in "Active Plugins"
  80.      box.
  81.  (5) If you want to abandon your operation in (4), click "Canel" button.
  82.      If you want to apply your operation in (4), click "OK" to close
  83.      NpChooser.
  84.  (6) run Netscape Navigator.

  86. 5.2 Switch plugins

  88.   (1)ü`(3) Same as 5.1.
  89.   (4) Choose a plugin from "Active Plugins" box by clicking it, 
  90.       and click down arrow button to move it in "Inactive plugins"
  91.       box. Then, choose a plugin, which you intend to use, from "Inactive
  92.       Plugins" box by clicking it, and click up arrow button to move it
  93.       in "Active plugins" box.
  94.   (5)ü`(6) Same as 5.1.

  96. 5.3 Use helper application instead of plugins

  99.   (4) Choose a plugin from "Active Plugins" box by clicking it, 
  100.       and click down arrow button to move it in "Inactive plugins"

  102.       Repeat it until there is no plugins in "Active Plugins" box.

  104.   (7) Setup helper applications for Netscape Navigator.
